Q. What is ALADIN?

ALADIN is an old name for the library catalog. It is no longer in general use, though you may hear it occasionally.

The library at the University of the District of Columbia is a member of the Washington Research Library Consortium. Because we are a part of this consortium we "share" a library catalog with the other members of the consortium.

You can use the single search box on the library website to search for materials at all of the consortium libraries, or you can limit your search to UDC, or any other individual library.

You can also request items from the other member libraries using UDC Search -- just look for the "CLS Request" link in an item record. CLS stands for Consortium Loan Service.

You can access UDC Search from the UDC Library home page and it can be used anywhere where you have access to the internet. Be sure to log in to get the best results.
