Does the library have study rooms for group or individual study?
Answer
The Van Ness campus library offers study rooms for group and individual study. Please inquire with library staff to book a study room.
Study room use policies:
- Study rooms are intended for the use of the UDC community and UDC students, faculty, and staff have priority. Non-UDC patrons may use study rooms if one is available but will be asked to relocate if a UDC patron wishes to use the room.
- Study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Individual study rooms (B103A, B103B, B103C, and B103D) are for 1-2 people.
- Group rooms (B319 and B320) are for 2+ people (maximum 8). 2+ people MUST be present in order to book a group room.
- If all individual rooms are occupied but group rooms are available, one person may be assigned to a group room. However, if a group requests the room, the individual will be asked to relocate.
- The Family-Friendly study room offers adult computer workstations and kid-friendly toys, books, and furniture. It is available on a first-come first-serve basis. Children who come to the library MUST be accompanied by an adult AT ALL TIMES.
- Bookings are for a maximum of two hours. Patrons may stay beyond their reservation if no one else is waiting for a room but will be asked to relocate if they have been in the room for more than two hours and another user is waiting.
- Patrons should inform staff when they vacate a study room so that it can be made available for other users.
- Patrons must provide their name and email address in order to book a study room. Name and email data will be deleted at the end of each semester.
- Patrons are responsible for keeping the study rooms clean.
- Persistent non-compliance with study room policies, defined as three warnings over the course of the semester, will result in a loss of room booking privileges for one month.
