The Library supports all members of the UDC community in their effective engagement with the information landscape.
Mission
The Library fosters the success of the entire UDC community by providing resources, tools, and expertise to amplify achievements in academic pursuits, career-ready skill development, and lifelong learning.
Goals
The Library carries out its vision and mission for the entire UDC community by pursuing the following goals:
Provide Access to Resources
The Library provides comprehensive digital and physical access to information resources to members of the UDC community.

Provide accessible and curriculum-supporting digital and physical resources through the Library and community partners including the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC).

Maintains a robust collection of databases to support UDC's academic and research mission

Develops subject-specific support material and reserves collections

Collaborates with faculty and community partners to strengthen the Library’s information resources
-
Optimizes the acquisition and management of print, digital, and instructional materials to support curricular, programmatic, and research needs

Preserves, maintains, and provides access to archival material and special collections to ensure access to noncurrent records in a variety of formats that are crucial in documenting the history of UDC (and its predecessor institutions) and for continuing research and administrative purposes.

Collects, preserves, and disseminates the scholarly and creative work of the UDC community through its digital repository.

Promotes the adoption of Open Educational Resources and Open Access materials
Provide Access to Space and Technology
The Library provides welcoming and accessible physical spaces and technology to the UDC community to further research, learning, and skill growth.

Maintains a collaborative online catalog which accurately reflects the status of materials and contributes to item discovery

Provides technological support space for multimedia projects such as audio, video, and VR presentations

Provides comfortable space for individual and group work
Provide Effective Services
The Library provides effective and accessible services to help the UDC Community engage with information and empower their learning.

Provides exemplary in-person and online support through service desks, phone, online chat, email, and appointments

Continually strengthens customer service through regular training and professional development

Provides instruction, library orientation, and curricular support materials to support information literacy and lifelong learning

Provides information learning opportunities through webinars, programs, and exhibits

Conducts outreach to promote the Library’s resources and services to the UDC community

Maintains membership and active collaboration in organizations and programs to further engagement with the UDC community
Elevate Learning
The Library elevates the learning of the UDC community through equitable and accessible policies.

Follows best practices for accessible and inclusive services which support the diversity of the UDC community

Maintains the privacy of those engaging with the Library’s services and resources

Supports the intellectual and academic freedom of the UDC community
