Are there library resources or services for library users with disabilities?

Answer

Yes!

Each UDC Library location has an accessible work station at a height-adjustable desk that includes a computer equipped with Fusion, JAWS, and ZoomText. The computer has a low-vision, large print keyboard. The Van Ness location also has OpenBook software and a digital scanner.

Video tutorials on the UDC Library YouTube channel are captioned.

Both UDC Library locations are wheelchair accessible.

Many full-text articles are published in an Adobe PDF format that can be automatically converted from text to speech. Adobe Reader includes a read aloud function (under the View menu). Additionally, many of our online resources have text-to-speech capabilities for some or all full-text content.

Please contact UDC librarians by email or phone (202-274-5104) if you are in need of additional accommodations.
