Can I use the library if I'm not a student or faculty member?

Answer

Yes! The UDC Library is open to DC residents. All visitors may visit the library to use Foundation Center/Candid resources

Visitors are welcome to use library materials on site. Please note that our print books are currently stored off-site and are not available for browsing. If you are a visitor who would like to consult specific items in our collection on site at the library, please contact us at circ@udc.libanswers.com or 202-274-6009 at least one day prior to your visit. You cannot check out books unless you are affiliated with UDC (student, staff, faculty, alumni) or affiliated with a university in the Washington Research Library Consortium.

Visitors may request computer access from the Reference Desk on the 6th floor of Building 71 (4250 Connecticut Ave. NW); guest wifi access is also available.

UDC alumni may apply for library access. Please email ask@udc.libanswers.com or call 202-274-6009 for further information. You will need to provide proof of alumni status.

People not currently affiliated with UDC, including visitors and alumni, may only use the library's electronic resources on site (i.e., no remote access) due to licensing restrictions.

UDC staff may use the library and check out materials.

People under 16 years old are not allowed in the library without supervision.
